Woo, finally managed to get those two weeks of terror out of the way! And they went pretty well too, actually.

First was the Mock Interview, where we had to prepare a physical portfolio with a showreel on disc. I knew I'd put way too much in the portfolio so I wasn't too surprised when the assessors told me it needed cutting down a bit. The showreel too was suggested to be cut down a little, but what I had on it was all the better stuff I currently had, which kinda woke me up to the fact that I need to animate a bit more in my spare time. However, they said the content that was in both was good, and that I dressed very nicely and I had a lot of compliments on my tie especially! :D

Then, a week later, we had the Pitches. This was a presentation that everyone in the class had to do in order to show everyone else what the films we are making are about, as well as the processes we took of designing characters, layouts, sound etc. I wanted to do mine earlier in the day but because there was no set order people kept getting up before I did, but when I eventually did present my film I again received many positive comments, some people even saying mine was the best of the class, which is a very big confidence boost for me :)

Lastly was the dreaded Dissertation/Rationale. Because we're part of Art and Design, we're lucky in the fact that it only had to be around 4000 words long (other courses average 10,000!), but at the disadvantage that most of Art and Design are less able at writing at length, me included. I'd actually written most of it before Christmas, and the only parts I had left to write were the Introduction, Conclusion, and a little bit before the Conclusion just to show what I did with the research I had done previously. I gave it to the essay tutor just to look over before I handed it in, and she said it seemed fine, so that gives me hope that I've done OK with it!

And now that that's all out of the way.... IT'S BACK TO DEVIANTART TIME!! :w00t: :happybounce: :excited:

As i said previously, I want to finish some pieces that I had started before but never fully completed before I start on anything else, but seeing as it's January, it's about time for another big Sara drawing too :) I also want to have a go at going through the design process that I did for The Biologist last year, mainly because one of the biggest pet peeves of mine is when Art and Design tutors go on about how they hate Anime and Manga, yet don't fully explain WHY. There are some reasons that I already know, but others are very obscure. But because of this, I want to try and start veering my style away from Manga and make it more my own, make it so that you can look at a drawing and say 'SamuelSkanvis did that!' without having to see the name of the artist.

Also not forgetting the Cat pictures I STILL need to get up. There are plenty now :D

And, of course, looking at all of your fantastic works too. There's A LOT of it too, so I'm excited to see what you've all been doing!

Glad to be back again, people! :star:

"The showreel too was suggested to be cut down a little, but what I had on it was all the better stuff I currently had" shouldn't that translate to the fact you have a load of really good stuff? :)
