London Met Police initial research

So I've been starting some character designs again, this time focusing on two of my long-time characters Gunman and Sara. I've been thinking about their story a lot recently, and I thought they needed a more solid backstory before they become vigilantes/heroes. This led me to think that they would have been police officers originally, where they would have learnt about how to catch criminals and a reason to have kept fit in general.

For the setting, I wanted the city to be a sort of futuristic cross between New York and London, so I had a look at the uniform that the London Metropolitan police service wear. Their uniform is black and white, with their trousers being smart rather than combat. They also always wear a body vest, where most of their equipment is attached, although sometimes a belt is also worn. Usually the shirt underneath the body vest is long-sleeved, and a tie is worn with it. The London Met also have a variety of hats, where men wear a cap similar to the New York police or a hard police hat, whereas women wear a bowler-style hat only.
