I've been away from deviantART for a little while recently, due to an amalgamation of various things happening at once.
Firstly, I bought a new computer! It's basically a good starter pack for a Gaming PC, does the job for most things but struggles with a few games, and with higher settings. So I've been playing around with that quite a lot, seeing what does and doesn't work, and putting it to good use.
Around the same time, an animation job opportunity came up. They were looking for graduates to create a 1 minute animation as a demo to see if they were up to it, so I had a go. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish the whole minute, however the animation I did do they liked, and then they presented the full job: 200 one-minute animations... by December.
Now for anyone who isn't all that with how animation works, that's Freakin' Impossible for one person to do. Think of it this way: they were asking One Guy to create 3 Hours and 20 Minutes of footage, including having to source the sound and voice overs myself, in 3 and a half months. Look at the credits for any Disney film, and think how long it takes to make, and now I hope you see why I ended up rejecting it.
Not only that, but it got me thinking about me and my future with animation, and honestly, I don't think it's bright. I have a heck of a lot to learn software-wise if I wanted to go into the industry, and not a heck of a lot of motivation to do it. I'm enjoying Illustrating and individual drawing much more than animating right now too, so if I'm honest, the animation can stay as a bonus feature if I get hired for my artistic skills. Thinking about it has really been getting me down, and therefore all of my art has been suffering. So for now, animation is best kept as a spur-of-the-moment hobby when I really feel like it, and not something to concentrate my efforts on.
Thirdly, work has been very up-and-down recently. Things are all over the place, there isn't actually a manager, and the person who is acting manager isn't really fit to be one. Throw in some completely inhuman movement speed we're supposed to have and you have a recipe for wanting to leave at the earliest opportunity. The only real saving graces are the other people I work with and the main role I have is one I enjoy doing- standing in a corner putting things in parcels and giving them to the postman. Doesn't sound fun, but it's better than being on a till
So yes, there has been a lot going on for me recently. I meant to upload the big sketch page of The Chemist that I finished around 2 weeks ago, but something held me back and then all this happened. I'll get it up soon though. I'm starting to get back into sketching now too, mostly just random stuff but hoping to get back to the Science Team plan soon.
That's all for now my friends, I'll be here more often now!
On your forehead! HA!
